This

THIS is uncomfortable. “This” being the act of allowing self to be seen. Intentionally choosing to be  vulnerable.

I. Me. You. Us. Shit.  Hands trembling and yet I’ve done this before.   Writing.

Can I start over please? (inhale….exhale)

Breaking the habit of you. What does that even mean?  To me, it’s layers.

Breaking habits.

Breaking the habit of you. You, plural, like y’all, we and us

Breaking the habit of you. You, singular, the self

I am no expert, well except when it comes to myself.  I have been fumbling and gliding through life. I purge and hoard like most people, as well I procrastinate and become task master when life necessitates.  What I’ve consistently discovered is, that life is about building up and tearing down…and rebuilding again.  Often times it’s with the same core materials however new ingredients are added or sometimes much is thrown to trash.  This is all to say that I don’t believe that we get a clean slate. Instead we get a new pile of stuff to work with which really isn’t new but the pieces we have left over from a purged life situations.

Breaking the habit of you is a journey, self work, self love, self.  Allowing strangers into  vulnerable spaces to learn more about how to be the best human by trial and error is extremely uncomfortable for me but it’s a necessary breaking.

What habits are you breaking or shall I ask, willing to break to become a better you?

  1. Your words resonate within me as I am trying to break a few habits that keep me from being my true authentic self. Reading your post gives me hope, and serves as a much needed reminder that life is like a constant construction zone. Constantly “building up and tearing down…and rebuilding, again,” as you stated. This realization makes it easier to accept where I am in my journey. Bring on the next post!

    1. Thank you Rachel. I’m glad that there was something that you found of worth here. We each have our own path to travel in becoming our most authentic self. It’s not an easy tasks because we want to look and compare but each one of us is unique and needs to be appreciated for that reality alone. Happy Building!!!
